The Hilarious World of Kids:
If you are with different types of kids everyday for almost thirty years in your life, you could forget that you are growing old because with kids nothing changes from the day you started running in your yard. Kids are fun to be with; in fact they are probably the best people to be with because they enjoy life to the fullest without thinking of problems and they could make you feel young forever.
I have taught all types of kids from the very calm, the hyper-active, the smooth-sailing kid, the silent one, the difficult child and other types of kids that some might otherwise say naughty or bad and rude. But I don’t call them naughty, bad or rude. Instead, I call them children with problems who need understanding and a big heart from the elders. But whoever they are whether they are good or they give us problems from time to time, kids are always kids and they have one thing in common. Kids say things that could shock the world of adults.
Kids say the darndest things. In fact kids just say what they want and think that it is a normal way of saying things. The very young kids could utter words that could shock adults when they hear them. But beyond all those words, no matter how shocking and no matter how hilarious the words are; the kids know nothing about the words they have said. This is the fun thing of childhood. Childhood is a world of the innocent and a world where kids live a life they create to themselves.
But take note of this: Kids maybe kids who are innocent but they can comprehend what’s happening around them so you have to be careful when you say things lest they be shouting what you said at home in the park.
There are many hilarious things and shocking things that kids say. Here are some of them.
- My brother tells about how his daughter almost sent him rushing outside to ask help and answer his daughter without flinching. One time when my brother arrived from work, he found his daughter comfortably seated on the couch. My brother kissed his daughter and carried her on his lap where they sat and watched television. Suddenly his daughter hugged him then kissed him and said, “Daddy, you are a great man. I will marry you when I grow up.” According to my brother he was shocked and wasn't able to say a word but of course he has to explain that daddy and daughter cannot marry.
Here are more hilarious incidents from the word of kids:
- In one occasion while I was teaching the little kids who are only three and four. One of the cute girls said her mother threw the clothes of his father outside their gate. She just said this out of the blue.
- In another occasion, a girl who was only four said that they have no money to buy food so her mother pawned her pearl necklace.
- My friend told me about this little girl in her class of preparatory children who are about 5 and six who was complaining that she has no pencil. When she gave her a pencil, the girl looked at it carefully and said she doesn’t like it because there is no eraser. She then took another pencil with an eraser and gave it to the girl. The girl refused to accept the pencil telling my friend that she will not accept the pencil because it is not a Barbie pencil. My friend told the child that she cannot find a Barbie pencil and that she has to use the pencil available in the classroom. Still the girl complained that she will not write if there is no Barbie pencil. Luckily, one pupil has a Barbie pencil and offered it for the other girl to use. My friend took the pencil and gave it to the girl without pencil then told her to say thank you to her classmate but the girl refused to say thank you. Instead she told the teacher proudly, “That’s what I do at home to my mommy.”
- One of the grandmothers of our Grade 1 students told me about this story. According to her, she was teaching her grandson to do his homework when his grandson who is seven complained that he is tired after writing only one sentence and that he wanted to go to his room and watch television first. His grandmother did not tolerate what he wanted, instead she told her grandson to do his homework and be done with it. The boy did not talk but he refused to do his homework. He just sat quietly in his chair. After a while he blurted out to his grandmother, “If you force me to do my homework I will call 163.” 163 is a number to dial when there are problems regarding children especially child abuse. According to the grandmother, she was shocked.
Kids are intelligent people who know what they are doing. Sometimes they are even smarter than their parents. Parents must make sure not to talk about delicate matters in front of kids. They maybe just kids but they can put you in danger or a messy situation.
It’s always good to let the children know that there are things that children shouldn’t say to their elders and things that they should not announce outside of the home. But of course kids are kids and they do not know restrictions. That is because kids are people who are free to do what they want to do.
